Is Home Maintenance For Dummies?

Tuesday, May 18th, 2010

Living in a society where being politically correct with the accepted use of words and terms is vogue, anyone can demonstrate their level of intelligence, and everyone can expose their lack thereof.

When choosing a website’s name and title like HomeMaintenanceForDummies and Hey, I’m No Dummy!, I was initially hesitant to use it because of the perceived ramifications and stigma that the title would bring.

However, I resolved the issue by rethinking the title’s truest meaning and purpose.

Hey, I’m No Dummy! is actually intended to provoke home repair & maintenance awareness in 4 groups of home owners who think of themselves as follows:

  • I’m Totally Clueless
  • I’m Smarter Than That
  • I’m Smart Enough
  • I’m A Genius
  • Let’s take a quick look into the thinking of each of these 4 groups of home owners.

Consider your own home maintenance IQ and see if you can identify yourself when reading the common characteristics found in each of these homeowners, and how they handle their home maintenance & repair.

    I’m Totally Clueless

These homeowners are ones who have no idea how to use a screwdriver, have no business owning one, and don’t even care!

There are many reasons why these homeowners find themselves in this category:

  • No one taught them the basics of home maintenance and repair
  • They didn’t get it in the first place and still have no interest in learning any time and money saving home maintenance tips
  • Their lifestyle is too overloaded already to pay attention to the current condition of their own home; they have no home maintenance checklist and have not ever attempted to follow any regular home maintenance schedule
  • Basically, they would rather pay someone else to take care of the nitty gritty details of their home maintenance and repair.
  • Frankly, these are the dummies I am referring to in the website title!

These are the ones who are totally clueless, and show it by waiting until there is a major catastrophe to have their home looked after.

When one waits this long to have their home maintenance and repair issues addressed, hundreds, even thousands of dollars in costly home repair could be avoided.

    I’m Smarter Than That!

These homeowners are ones who know how to use a screwdriver, own one or more, and are interested in knowing more about home repair & maintenance.

There are many reasons why these homeowners find themselves in this category:

  • Someone taught them the basics of home maintenance and repair, or
  • They take the initiative to learn on their own, and still have an interest in learning more time and money saving home maintenance tips
  • Their lifestyle is also overloaded, but they see the value of paying attention to the current condition of their own home by working with a home maintenance checklist, and have tried to follow a regular home maintenance schedule
  • Basically, when timing is important and money is available, they would rather pay someone else to take care of the nitty gritty details of their home maintenance and repair.
  • These are the one who demonstrate that they are smarter than the first group by showing some interest in getting better acquainted with their home.

By learning basic home maintenance and repair tips, they do save money and time by avoiding costly home repair.

    I’m Smart Enough!

These homeowners are ones who have a degree from the Home Maintenance School of Hard Knocks, own more tools than the local hardware store, and just want to see if there is an easier method.

There are many reasons why these homeowners find themselves in this category:

  • Someone taught them the basics of home maintenance and repair, and
  • They still take the initiative to learn on their own, but developed a hunger to take control of their home repair and maintenance issues by learning more time and money saving home maintenance tips
  • Their lifestyle is also overloaded, but they know the value of paying attention to the current condition of their own home by working with a home maintenance checklist and following home maintenance schedule that empowers them with awareness, confidence, and control
  • Basically, they enjoy the diy projects, and prefer to take care of the nitty gritty details of their home maintenance and repair rather than paying someone else to do it for them.
  • These are the one who can figure out most solutions to their home repair & maintenance issues.

But if there is a challenging repair, they know where to go to get their answers and know what tools to use.

By using their own tools along with basic home maintenance and repair tips, they save money and time by avoiding costly home repair.

    I’m A Genius!

Finally, these homeowners are ones who put Bob Villa to shame, own their own hardware store, and want to know to make money doing home maintenance & repair.

There are many reasons why these homeowners find themselves in this category:

  • Someone taught them the basics of home maintenance and repair, and eventually they turned around and taught someone else how to do the same thing
  • They not only take the initiative to learn on their own, but have mastered their hunger to take control of their home repair & maintenance issues by continually learning and even developing their own time and money saving home maintenance tips
  • Their lifestyle is also overloaded, but they know and experience firsthand the value of paying attention to the current condition of their own home by modifying the own personal home maintenance checklist and following a home maintenance schedule and managing their own home repair & maintenance system.
  • Basically, they thoroughly enjoy the diy projects so much that they definitely prefer to take care of the nitty gritty details of their home maintenance and repair and wouldn’t even consider paying someone else to do it for them.
  • These are the one who figure out every solution to their home repair & maintenance issues.

There are no challenging repairs because they know where to go to get their answers and know what tools to use.

By using their own tools along with their own advanced home maintenance and repair techniques, they not only save money and time by avoiding costly home repair, they can make money by helping other homeowners do the same.

    Now How About You?

Finding a Consultant for Internet Marketing

    Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

When embarking on an internet marketing campaign, it doesn’t matter if your focus is awful plastic surgery or how to make money online, hiring a consultant to assist you in your Internet marketing campaign is a worthwhile endeavor if you have some experience in Internet marketing but are competing in a competitive niche and need some additional assistance to help you rise above the competition.

There are a few characteristics to look for when seeking a qualified consultant in the Internet marketing industry. Surprisingly cost is not one of the most important considerations. Experience and past performance are much more important. You can compare costs among consultants who are similarly qualified but using cost as a primary source of evaluation is not recommended

Experience is very important when it comes to selecting a consultant to assist you in an Internet marketing campaign. Experience is critical because consultants who have a great deal of experience also have a great deal of understanding of which techniques work best and which techniques are not as effective. This can save you a great deal of time and money as there will likely not be as much experimentation necessary as there would be with a less experienced consultant.

Seeking out a consultant in the Internet marketing industry with an excellent past record of performance is also very important. This is so important because consultants who have had a great deal of success in the past will likely have a great deal of success while assisting you as well. Past performance is considered to be one of the best indications of future performance.

Once you are confident each of the candidates on your list is well qualified, choosing the least expensive candidate is worthwhile. However it is important to note all of the fees involved to ensure you are making an accurate cost comparison.

Each time you implement a change to your marketing strategy; you should evaluate the results of the change to determine whether or not it generated a greater profit for you. This is important because it can help you determine what is working and what is not working for you.

If you are looking to get a crate full of cash i.e. a cash crate, you might want to start focusing on your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats regarding your internet marketing campaign.

Customer surveys can be as simple or as complex as you like depending on the amount of feedback you would like to receive. However, one of the most effective ways to find out how well your different marketing tactics are working is to include a question asking the consumer where they first learned about your products or services. This is important because if you find a great deal of your customers are learning about your products or services through a particular venue, it is a good indication this method of advertising is working quite well for you.

Creating solid foundation in your website will help you whether your aim is to make money online or target the awful plastic surgery niche, the cash crate will begin to fill up and a project payday is certain to arrive.

Giving You the Best Shaver is Our Business

    Saturday, October 31st, 2009

www.bestelectricshaversonline.com offers a wide range of electric shavers that bid the best quality products available in the market. Some men find it hard to give some extra time even with shaving. Some are picky when it comes to this stuff as they want to ensure that they would be getting the perfect shave for them, as well as their money’s worth. Not to mention that these men wanted to hoard more time and money, it is important that honest reviews are available to ensure that what they about to buy made other clients satisfied. It is even hard to find shavers out there in the market; most of them would even look the same if you are not so in to electric shavers and got used with the normal razors.

Somehow, it might be overwhelming when choosing the great electric shaver for you. Remember, that electric shaver reviews may not work the same for every man. There are some shavers that work perfectly fit for one and would not do the same for the other. That is because shavers are basically made for a particular facial skin, hair and contour.

Good thing about best shavers, from the name itself, compiled a list of best shavers available in the market. Now, you do not have to go from one web page to another web page as everything that you wanted to know can be found in one place. Good Electric Shaver offers an honest review from different brands that would help you make a decision in choosing what would suit your needs best.

Can You Train Your Dog from a Dog Training DVD?

    Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Well, everybody wants a dog that can sit, can heel and can fetch on command – who doesn’t? Unfortunately, not everybody has the extra time and money a certified dog school would require. Does this mean you can’t have the convenience and luxury of a trained pet? Of course not! It’s not a random privilege but a necessity that one’s dog should have even the basic dog manners taught to it. While canine schools unreasonable for most of us, there are many dog training DVDs available for us to use instead.

A dog training DVD is usually produced and promoted by a professional dog trainer. Having a dog that can “sit!” when commanded does not make you a professional trainer. The guy (or gal) usually seen on the video is probably licensed or has graduated from an animal/veterinary academy to get the necessary units for their chosen career. You can also Google and search for good trainers, then look if they have available resources to the public.

If you plan to buy one of these videos, ask yourself what do you want to teach your dog? If he’s starting from zero, then look for a video that will cover the fundamental obedience commands. If you want to get particular behavior modification pointers; in that case you might need to search the internet for a site offering an extensive DVD collection. Browse through their offerings per subject and select a title that would answer your doggie training needs.

So where do you go for these instructional DVDs? Since there are very few, strong video stand alone today, the best place to look for these products would be the internet. Amazon will have a lot of these instructional DVDs to sell. Websites that cater specifically for dog owners usually have a page of special offerings which include training resources. You can also click on buy and sell sites for owners who want to sell old, second-hand training DVDs – although this is probably not the most reliable way to get one.

Average canine training videos have prices from $20-$50; depending on how many DVDs are included or what other helpful tool it comes with. Some specialty sites will offer special discounts and gifts thrown in for free if you order immediately. If you believe that the DVD will be a much used tool in teaching your dog, then you should purchase it as soon as you can. It will be worth it for sure. However, if you don’t think you really need a particular topic and are just lured by the good bargain, do not go off spending on that first. You may have better use for your pet fund.

Having a well-trained canine need not be the most expensive item in your list. With dog training DVDs, it’s possible to have a great canine education for the fraction of the fee it might have cost you. You might not be capable of bringing Fido to a dog school – but because of pioneering trainers and technology, dog school can now go to your own home.

    Tissa Godavitarne

    Saturday, September 19th, 2009

Because I receive so many inquires about who is Tissa Godavitarne that I decided to write a little post about him.

I first heard of Tissa through the Wealthy affiliate forum in the recommended products section. This is a paid private forum which I have been a member for about three years and have trusted the other members recommendations and advise. The member who was presenting Tissa’s Affiliatize program was only a month or two old in doing online business but had made a good start with Tissa’s program and was clearing over a $1000 in profit already.

I did some more digging on the product and found that one can enter the program with little money, just enough for hosting your web page. The landing page explains a lot about Tissa and why he is looking for affiliates to promote his business. But it seems too good to be real and I think this is the main reason why people are asking who is this Tissa Godavitarne?

Tissa is for real and has been here for some time! He genuinely wants to help upstarts to acquire a business and is not promising anything more then a modest income, no get rich quick and become a millionaire in a month type program. Yes there are a lot of people who are doing business with Tissa Godavitarne in his Affiliatize program because it does work and the market is wide open for more.

Is Tissa Godavitarne just another scam artist tricking people into a worthless plan that cost a lot of money and time? No! He is the real deal for those of us that are willing to work and have patience growing our business into a profitable experience. The only people that seem to call Tissa’s program a scam are those that know nothing about it or have done little in promoting the product. I am not saying that this program is for everybody, it isn’t but if you are willing to work and see it through then it will most likely be a good investment of your time and money.

When you look around the internet and find all these different marketing business that say they have the best program for you to join. It is refreshing to find someone like Tissa Godavitarne in his down to earth type approach being honest and straight forward with a good product to promote.

Using Body Weight Exercises to Build a Great Body

    Thursday, September 10th, 2009

Lets face it, most of us want to have a healthy physique but a number of different tests get in the way of it, including the time and money we have. It takes a lot of time for us to go to the gym, exercise on a regular basis and then make sure that we are keeping up with the latest as far as workout is concerned. If you work out at the gym, you are not only going to have to worry about the membership fees, you are going to have to worry about your clothes and some other things.

One way that you can fix this is by doing it at home and skipping some of the irritations and cost that usually go along with working at the gym. As a matter of fact, you don’t even need any big time equipment in order for you to get started. All you really need is the physique that you carry around with you every day. In Fact, bodyweight exercises is one of the most healthy things that you can do.

It’s good to make sure that you start out slow whenever you are doing these types of exercises. Your body is going to get used to the new workout that you are doing quickly but don’t overdo it from the start. Simply do exercises such as push-ups, ab exercises, dips and deep knee bends. Not only will you build excellent muscle, you will also be dropping body fat rather quickly if that is your goal.

Working out with your body is an excellent way for you to get a muscular body and to keep yourself in shape for the long-term. Make sure you use it to your benefit and workout with your body every day.

Easing the task of finding flights to San Francisco

    Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Searching for San Francisco flights can be as easy as inputting your information and waiting for the the result while you do other, more important things. There are several online sites that offer such a service. All you do is give them the travel information such as, your departure and arrival cities, dates, number of travelers, and time of travel. You would be required to also check off whether it is a round trip flight or not.

Once all pertinent information has been input, they will ask you to securely install their toolbar. This is necessary because this will be the way they keep you updated with their findings. Their system continually scans over 200 travel search engines and gives you the price comparisons. When you see these comparisons come up you can choose which is best for you. Just click on flight deals that interests you. This is a very convenient way of finding flights to San Franciscio.

Since San Francisco is a very popular destination, most airlines continuously fly in and out of their airport. Finding flights to San Francisco can be tedious. A tool such as the one I mention can save you loads of time, as well as money; money that can be better spent while on your trip. If it enables you to save time and money you might think the site will cost you money but, it does not. The site features are free to those who choose to take advantage of this “Golden Gate” opportunity.

    Installing a Drip Irrigation System

    Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

If you are looking for ways to keep your garden watered without wasting too much time and money, you have probably gone through a lot of options in your mind. Maybe you have considered a sprinkler, a hose, or a good old-fashioned watering can. All of these methods might be convenient, but most of the time you will end up wasting water on plants that do not need any more. If you live in a drought stricken area like I do, you know that every bit of water counts. I ended up getting a drip irrigation system. I have not regretted this decision at all.

When you install a drip irrigation system, you can choose one of two varieties: above ground and below ground. The above ground version drips small amounts of water continuously onto the ground, and allows it to soak in such as the 4 pot wilma system self watering grow kit. It is all regulated from a pressure controller, which ensures that the water just comes out at a drip instead of a spray or a stream. These pressure regulators are very inexpensive. The whole drip system can be set up with a pressure regulator and a garden hose with holes poked in it (although it is ideal for you to get a pipe designed for this type of use, I have found that the hose method works acceptably).

The underground system is a bit more of a pain to install and maintain. But if you are really into the aesthetic aspect of your garden and do not want any visible watering system, then you might consider it worth it. It is essentially the same as the above ground version, only a small trench is dug for the hose or pipe prior to any planting. This allows the water direct access to the roots for the most watering efficiency. Plus, you can impress your neighbors by having a beautiful garden without ever going outside to water it! They will be baffled.

To choose between the two systems, you need to take several things into account. Do you have the same plant layout year round? If it is always changing, you probably will not want to bury your hose. It can be a pain to dig it up and re-align it with all your new plants every year or so. Even if your plant layout never changes, you need to consider how much you really mind seeing a hose in your garden. If it really bothers you to the extent that you are willing to work for a few hours to get rid of it, then by all means bury it. But otherwise I would suggest staying above ground if for nothing else than the convenience of repairing and rearranging.

One of the main advantages of the drip irrigation system is its efficiency. Instead of spraying large amounts of water willy-nilly like a garden hose does, it makes the most of your precious water by putting it exactly where it is needed. It can also provide your garden with constant watering, instead of just having to go thirsty whenever you are not around to water it.

So if you are looking for an easy, cheap, convenient, and efficient alternative watering method, you should go out to the gardening store today and purchase the necessary items to install a drip irrigation system. I think you will be surprised at how much easier it is to maintain a garden after you have it.
